Solving Quadratic Equations using Quadratic Formula

   If  $a{x}^2+bx+c$ = 0, then $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-b}\pm \sqrt{b^2-\mathrm{4ac}}}{\mathrm{2a}}$

So, if  $8x^2+34x+30$ = 0, then

     $x$ =  $\frac{-(34)\pm \sqrt{{(\mathrm{34})}^2-(4)(8)(30)}}{(2)(8)}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-34}\pm \sqrt{1156-960}}{\mathrm{16}}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-34}\pm \sqrt{196}}{\mathrm{16}}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-34}\pm 14}{\mathrm{16}}$

or,  $x$ =  $\frac{-20}{16}$ or,  $x$ =  $\frac{-48}{16}$

or,  $x$ =  $\frac{-5}{4}$ or,  $x$ =  $-3$
