Solving Quadratic Equations using Quadratic Formula

   If  $a{x}^2+bx+c$ = 0, then $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-b}\pm \sqrt{b^2-\mathrm{4ac}}}{\mathrm{2a}}$

So, if  $x^2-6x+8$ = 0, then

     $x$ =  $\frac{-(-6)\pm \sqrt{{(\mathrm{-6})}^2-(4)(1)(8)}}{(2)(1)}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{6\pm \sqrt{36-32}}{2}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{6\pm \sqrt{4}}{2}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{6\pm 2}{2}$

or,  $x$ =  $\frac{8}{2}$ or,  $x$ =  $\frac{4}{2}$

or,  $x$ =  $4$ or,  $x$ =  $2$
