<br/><br/><b>Course description</b>: (Prerequisite: Math 106 or
equivalent) Topics from differential calculus including limits, derivatives, curve
sketching, marginal cost functions, and maximum-minimum problems. Not open to
students with credit for or enrolled in Math 114.


<br/><br/><b>Textbook</b>: Calculus for Business, Economics, and the
Social and Life Sciences, Hoffmann and Bradley, McGraw Hill, 9<sup>th</sup>
Edition.


<br/><br/><b>Topics</b>: Relevant sections from Chapter 1 through
Chapter 4.

<br/><br/><b>Calculator Use Policy</b>: Not allowed for use during
tests

<br/><br/><b>Cell Phone Use Policy</b>: Not allowed for use in class.
Keep the ringer off.

<br/><br/><b>Cheating and Plagiarism Policy</b>: University Guidelines
will be applied.

<br/><br/><b>Attendance Policy: </b>10 points will be deducted from
your total score for every missed class. If you must miss a class due to sickness or other unavoidable
circumstances, you must provide a written note from the appropriate authority to
the department on or before the following Monday in order to be exempted from
this policy. Prolonged absence from classes extending over weeks may cause you
to receive an incomplete grade or a failing grade for the semester.

<br/><br/><b>Grading policy</b>: There will be six 25 minutes long mini-tests,
3 before the mid-term test and 3 after the mid-term test. The mid-term test
will be 50 minutes long. Also, there will be a 50 minutes long final test at
the end of the semester. The mini-tests will be 100 points each. The mid-term
test will be 200 points and the final test will be 200 points. One may retake
any of the mini-tests or the mid-term exam with a penalty of 5% only once. Penalty
will be waived if you missed the test due to sickness or unavoidable circumstances
- a written note from the appropriate authority must be furnished to the school.

<br/><br/>The mid-term and the final exams will be cumulative. Topics
for the mini tests will be announced 1 week in advance.

<br/><br/>The mid-term test will be on Monday, March 10, 2008.

<br/><br/>One can receive a maximum of 1000 points for the course. The
letter grade one receives will depend on the total points received out of the
maximum possible 1000 points. The letter grades will be assigned as follows:

<br/><br/>A = 930-1000, A- = 900-929, B+ = 870-899, B = 830-869, B- =
800-829, C+ = 770-799, C = 730-769, C- = 700-729, D+ = 650-699, D = 600-649, F
= 0-599
